If I lived in "Mad Men" land for a day, I would totally make out with him on his Sterling-Cooper purchased desk. But that aloof, secretive, and calculating personality that seduces his onscreen paramours and the show's viewers? Don Draper is written as an extremely complicated and deeply flawed man who does some awful things, like cheating repeatedly on his wife, Betty, and using information he gleans from her therapist to manipulate her.

In a business situation this comes across as professional, confident, and reassuring to the client that the task at hand will be accomplished flawlessly.
In a real-life romantic relationship, the refusal or inability to "turn it off" can be frustrating and painful for the other person involved.
These are, of course, just excuses for his bad behavior that should never fly in real life.

Draper always looks dapper in his tailored suit and skinny tie—he’s a fictional character working at an Ad agency in modern mid-century Manhattan (Season 6 premiering on April 7! The asshole of your affection may be in jeans and a white t-shirt, his product-less hair wafting back as he slugs a beer, but there is an undeniable confidence to him.
You may be the type of woman who likes to observe this asshole from a far, possibly think about him later in a quiet moment, but you’d never date him or even so much as give him a moment of your time. You don’t want to rock the boat and scare this tiger.
