Updating mediawiki

In other words, how do you make the main content div take up 100% of the display, hiding the logo, toolbox, navigation and search engine? If you just installed Media Wiki and you want to improve its default text editor, you have basically two options: either enable the Wiki Editor extension, which was successfully used by the most Media Wiki-based Wikis in the world since 2015 – including, of course, Wikipedia – or implement the brand-new (and visually astonishing) Visual Editor extension, which is basically the “successor” of the former being officially adopted by Wikipedia since 2015.

Conversely, installing the Wiki Editor is a matter of few minues, which is something that makes it the perfect choice if you want to improve your editor’s experience without losing too much time.

As a matter of fact, you most likely have it already – unless you installed Media Wiki years ago – as the Wiki Editor extension comes shipped together with the default # Enabled Extensions.

If you wish to alter or amend the software itself, in general, you are permitted to, but there are some restrictions and you should consult the full text of the GNU GPL version 2 for details.

Because Media Wiki is provided free of charge, there is no warranty, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

This means that although many wikis license their content under a permissive license, you are not obliged to license the content submitted to your wiki in any particular way.

Of course, as a project founded to support sites like Wikipedia, we encourage you to license the texts you write under a free license, but, in short, you are not required to.

Instead you need to edit a wiki page called Media Wiki: if you want to apply your CSS changes for all skins, or a wiki page called Media Wiki: if you want to apply the customizations only for the Vector skin.

The content of the Media Wiki: and Media Wiki: pages always overrides the default CSS styles specified in the skin files.

(afaik we had such a discussion already some time ago and if i remember right its ok to reset it to default) I don't have the time/knowledge to fix/update the template after the upgrade. I don't disagree that installing security updates asap is important, but evidently that was not always the case. It was FORB, AF & YOU who wanted to switch to wordpress which is a security hole itself! When longterm support runs out for a version, it means they will stop porting back security bugfixes to it. Jesus, talking to you is -_- Example: https://github.com/Evolution RTS/Evolution-RTS/wiki Github wiki is better than mediawiki and it makes sense for the wiki to be using github.
